Did You Say Something?

Are you ever at an event or meeting and realize many words are said without sound.  We receive them from the other person’s body language.  I have come to realize that we all communicate without trying and sometimes without being aware of the images or messages we are sending.

At my last meeting I looked around the room to see if I could read the messages that were being sent from person to person.  I also know that others are trying to read my body language as well.  At this point it actually became funny.

Because we talk with our eyes, our face, our posture, our clothes, our hair and even with that hand shake it is also impossible not to communicate.  I even watched a very shy individual sitting and one standing by themselves yet saying something to the crowd in the room.  Believe it or not you can tell if they are shy, just did not want to talk, or even just waiting for someone to come up and say hello.  I tried this the other day and the person was so glad I came up to them because he said he felt along in the crowd.  Actually I was not sure what type of reaction I was going to receive from him. However, we had a great conversation and exchanged our busy information and look forward to a business partnership.  You never know who you might meet.  This means there are unspoken words even before you meet.

So it is okay to smile and make the first introduction at your next meeting.Smiling Jordan  As you are looking at others remember they are also looking at you as well.

I am reminded of a saying from Ralph Waldo Emerson: ‘What you are speaks so loudly, I can’t hear what you say’.

Let’s enjoy-network- and grow.
