What Did I Say? WOW!!!

“Body Language is the language of the soul and the self.  Change your body language … Change your life.”  – Dr. Donna Van Natten

Often we say one thing and mean something entirely different.  This can be so frustrating that the body movements and facial expressions will tell it all.

Most recently I heard Dr. Donna Van Natten, President & CEO of Body Language Dr., explain and demonstrate that there is definitely an art in understanding non-verbal communication with words, your tone of voice and the body movement.  Actually, I thought I was doing okay until this class.  With our flower centerpiece arrangements it was a gentle reminder that we speak without saying a word.

Consciously or unconsciously we will judge others by their voice and body language.  And believe it or not, there are many times when they will not agree with each other!!  It is so true that actions speak louder than words.  For example, if you meet someone and say:  ‘It is so good to see you’  and then look off in space and even start talking to someone else.  We are saying with voice and body that ‘I really don’t’ care’.    What should happen is at least a smile and definitely eye contact.

We all communicate each and every day without trying and sometimes without being aware of the image or message we show to others.  At our next meeting let’s make a conscious effort to project what we mean and mean what we project.

We can do this!!!

“What you are speak so loudly, I can’t hear what you say”…Ralph Waldo Emerson
